The next regularly scheduled Village Council Meeting is scheduled to take place on September 9, 2025. 

Notice of Public Hearing – Wind Solar and Cell Ordinance

TAKE NOTICE, The Planning Commission for the Village of Lawton will hold a public hearing on September 2, 2025, during a regular meeting of the Planning Commission commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall located at 125 S Main Street, Lawton, MI 49065. 

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment and consider the following proposed ordinance: 

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TABLES 5.02.A AND 5.03.A, ENACT SECTIONS 5.26 AND 5.27, AMEND SECTION 11.04, AND ENACT SECTIONS 11.13–18 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR THE VILLAGE OF LAWTON 

The proposed ordinance is a text amendment that would, among other things, authorize and regulate certain wind turbines and solar panels, regulate wireless communication facilities, and provide for the administration and enforcement of the Village Zoning Ordinance. 

Until the close of the public hearing or any adjournment thereof, the proposed ordinance may be obtained, inspected, copied, or reviewed at the Village Clerk’s Office during regular hours of operation or by appointment. 

Location: 125 S Main Street, Lawton, MI 49065 

Hours of operation: Monday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

Written comments may be submitted in lieu of or in addition to a personal appearance. Written comments must be received no later than 12 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Written comments should be addressed to the Planning Commission and must be submitted to the Village Clerk via email at brathbun@lawtonmi.org or sent to the following address:
